Getting Started
Hi Folks,
I usually play Unreal Tournament with my clan , www.kentuckyrookies.com. Alot of us are starting to get into GW. We formed a guild, KR. Well, we are little lost & I'm looking for a little help. I chose the Necromancer/Monke. Monke is 2nd profession. We've been exploring & doing all sorts of missions to build our characters up. I ended up talking to some guy in a town & he made some statement about "Are you ready to leave everything behind" ? I chose yes & now I'm hooked up with 3 other dudes in a different world. I've apparently sepereated myself from everybody. I'm only level 4. Was that a bad move ? Prematurely I mean ? I'm just lost & am looking for direction from some other ppl who have been playing. Any tips you can provide would be awesome ! |

Not a bad decision at all, tell your other buds to get a move on and go on through too,the first world or "Pre Searing" is really just a tutorial,an easy place to get used to the game mechanics, once your friends get through you will be able to meet them in Post Searing Ascalon

ok cool, b/c I heard that you shouldn't go into "post searing" (couldn't remember what others were calling it) prematurely b/c you can get things cheaper in the "tutorial" type world ??
Well, anything else you can recommend that we do ? This game kicks azz ! |

Well, it's generally a good idea to pick up a belt puch, the extra skill point misson and all the basic skills of all the classes before moving on to Post Searing Asc. In won't break you necessarily, but it's more efficient. But like Nantos says, just wait for you buds to get there.

It would have been wise to make sure one had completed all of the skill quests available to you in pre-searing first though. Better than having to squander skill points on them when you get to Post searing. Beyond that, nothing wrong with being Lvl 4 - 5 area, most of the enemies are that low too.

Level 4 is kinda early to go to post for your 1st character, but it's not the end of the world. Tell your buddies to finish up any pre-searing quests they have and go talk to Tydus so that they can join you. They, too, will need to "leave everything behind". I do hope that at the very least you got all your skill trainer quests and your res sig, otherwise you'll need to buy them from the trainer in Ascalon City.

Here's one tip, you'd probably want to upgrade your armor in Ascalon City...but don't go upgrading your Armor in every new major city you land in. Check the differences between your current armor and the armor the crafter is offering and see if the cost and benefits are worth it.

Well, I have like 8 different spells. I put 10 total attribute points to various ones. I did get the pouch, I upgraded my gloves & boots. I did a lot, but I'm hoping I didn't dig myself a hole by leaving prematurely.

Forgive my ignorance, but what is res sig ? And I take it my skill trainer quests would only involve the 8 spells I got ? |

a res sig (resurrection signet) is gotten in pre-searing the "mission" is just to team up with someone and talk to monk outside the gates. i would be suprised if you missed that 1. |

One more tip is not to spread your attribute points too thin. Focus on 3 or 4 attributes as this would make your character more effective. You have 24 attribute REFUND points to change your attributes around (you can get the REFUND points back by gaining XP, 250XP per refund point). Level 4 is ok is Post-Searing. Just take extra care when venturing out. Remember to fill your roster with Henchmen and don't hesitate to ask for help!! |
